Role: Research Manager

Reports To: Head of Research

Location: We have a remote working policy, so we are looking for teammates anywhere in the US! However, we do have office pods in NYC, Austin, Chicago, and D.C. and India. Our standard operating hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm EST.

Travel: This role will not be expected to travel. Note, Knit does US all team, in-person company events twice per year.

Overview & Responsibilities 

The primary responsibility of the Research Manager is to provide research expertise and support to Knit’s customers. The purpose of this role is to execute research projects initiated by the customer and to keep track of changes made to AI-generated outputs for continuous improvement of the AI tools.

We are Research Subject Matter Experts serving as the expert human layer between Knit's AI and our customers. Our success is measured by Knit's Research AI Performance, Research Operations Success, and Research CSAT score.

Key performance indicators for the Research Team: 

  • Research CSAT Score - Success is measured on quantitative and qualitative customer feedback on the quality of their research projects with Knit research support - ultimately laddering up to customer retention and growth.
  • Research Operation success
    • 90% of Analysis Plans reviewed within 1 business day of being generated
    • Toplines delivered within 2-3 days of survey being fielded
    • Deck Reports delivered within agreed timelines days
  • AI Performance - The research team is responsible for ensuring the production of a consistent volume of high-quality research assets to meet our AI training needs. Success is measured on specific benchmarks for ensuring the output of our AI features are highly accurate, insightful for our customers, and always improving. 

Primary responsibilities of this role:

This role will be responsible for managing Knit’s customers’ end-to-end projects on Knit, everything from project management, to customer communications, to being their go-to Research Subject Matter Expert - this person will shepherd the customer’s projects from scoping to reports.

  • Exceptional Project Management
    • Manage customer research projects from scoping to topline, adhering to timelines and quality standards
    • Accurately scope projects and work cross-functionally to support work-back schedules
    • Keep research objectives up to date on platform
    • Manage multiple projects running concurrently
  • Autonomous Customer Communications
    • Ask clarifying questions to better understand research and business objectives, decisions being made with the data, and any specific nuances to the project
    • Manage expectations about deliverables and timelines 
    • Partner with the customer as needed to brainstorm project specifics
    • Keep customers informed of key steps throughout the project
    • Lead topline and report read-outs with customers using the Knit platform
    • Ability to manage tough conversations with customers autonomously, driving a path to solutions and mutual understanding 
  • End-to-End Research Expertise 
    • Be the human, research subject matter expert on all Knit projects by finalizing questionnaires, Analysis Plans, Toplines, and Reports after initial creation from Knit and the Research Analyst Team
    • Finalize comprehensive surveys and provide basic programming instructions for implementation teams
    • Finalize AI-generated Analysis Plans to address customer research objectives and set up the plan to successfully guide the topline and/or report output
    • Finalize toplines, checking for accurate takeaways and recommendations
    • As needed, assist in producing custom, slide deck, deep dive reports
    • Adapt quickly to changing project requirements and business needs
    • Bridge the gap between customer needs and technical research implementation
    • Document changes that are made to AI-generated assets, coordinating with product team to continuously improve the AI tools

Resume Requirements

A successful candidate for this role… 

  • Must have 6+ years of market research experience, with the majority of the time spent on the supplier side. Early stage startup (<100 people) experience is a plus
  • Must have experience leading discovery and scoping calls, writing and editing quant and qual questionnaires from scratch, drafting analysis plans, and creating stakeholder-ready insights top-line & reports. 
  • Comfort and experience managing partnerships and customers at Enterprise, Fortune 500 US-based companies, specifically working with insights professionals to define research objectives and produce deliverables that answer key business & research objectives.
  • Ability to operate successfully in environments with multiple research projects and customers live with Knit at the same time.
