Location: Remote; Our standard business operating hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm EST.

Travel: This role will be expected to travel less than 20% of the time. Note, Knit US does a US All Team Summit in-person once per year.

Overview 
The People Operations Manager (U.S.) will serve as a senior HR generalist with a mandate to strengthen Knit’s performance review and management processes, compensation design, cross-functional talent development, total rewards programs, and recruiting infrastructure. This role blends hands-on execution with strategic program building, ensuring our people systems scale alongside rapid business growth.

You will partner closely with leaders across functions to design and operationalize programs that drive employee performance, career growth, and engagement. From building a fair and competitive compensation framework to enabling talent development and embedding a culture of accountability through performance reviews, this role is central to attracting and retaining top talent.

As the U.S. People Operations lead, you will also steward compliance, employee relations, recruiting support, and policy design, ensuring Knit’s HR infrastructure is both scalable and aligned to our values of 1% Better Every Day, Play to Win, and Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing. 

Responsibilities | What you will own… 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for U.S. employees, providing guidance on policies, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Support managers on leadership effectiveness, conflict resolution, and career development pathways.
  • Oversee Justworks administration for U.S. benefits management, ensuring accuracy, employee experience, and compliance.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, maintaining a proactive stance on risk management
  • Lead and actively participate in salary surveys, monitoring compliance requirements in a global market
  • Design and deliver scalable people programs that enhance performance, growth, and engagement.
  • Support onboarding, learning, and employee experience programs to strengthen culture and talent density.
  • Partner with the management team to align development plans with Knit’s leveling framework and business strategy.
  • Manage recruiting operations in the U.S., including process design, candidate experience, interview workflow, employment agreements and personnel files.
  • Shape the employee experience by leveraging data-driven insights and people analytics to guide strategic decision-making, improving engagement to achieve business goals
  • Partner with managers to identify skill gaps and create targeted training interventions.
  • Supports IT-related inquiries, leveraging Rippling IT Management Platform

Required Skills & Experiences

  • 7–10 years of progressive HR/People Operations experience with proven success as a senior generalist or People Operations Manager, ideally in a high-growth or scaling environment.
    Broad HR expertise across performance management, compensation and total rewards, recruiting operations, employee relations, compliance, and talent development.
  • Compensation & Rewards Acumen: Experienced in building salary bands, pay-for-performance models, and benefits/total rewards programs that balance internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Performance & Development Leadership: Track record of designing and rolling out performance review processes, manager enablement programs, and cross-functional development initiatives.
  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to build repeatable, scalable systems and processes; comfortable with HRIS/ATS tools, data management, and reporting.
  • Attention to Detail & Execution Discipline: Known for precision in documentation, process rigor, and follow-through — balancing strategic design with reliable delivery.
  • Relationship-Building & Influence: Strong interpersonal and coaching skills; able to earn trust and influence leaders and employees across all levels.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Solid working knowledge of U.S. employment law, with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risk.
